Fisheries & Aquatic Science

ESA provides fisheries and aquatic science services to clients with projects involving threatened or endangered fish species, ecosystem restoration, flood management, water supply and water rights, water quality, and water resources management.

Our fisheries scientists and aquatic ecologists are skilled in developing and implementing study plans assessing instream, estuarine/tidal, and near-shore coastal habitats; identifying and assessing fish and aquatic species/ communities, determining impacts to federally listed and state sensitive aquatic species, and developing appropriate management and mitigation strategies.

Our ability to inventory existing conditions, analyze data, and develop and implement restoration and management solutions for freshwater and estuarine aquatic resources is complemented by our related services in fluvial hydrology, tidal wetlands, and riparian ecosystem restoration. Specifically, our integrated team provides comprehensive services focused on the development and analysis of instream flows, fish passage, and multi-benefit water resources management.

Our multidisciplinary expertise enables us to provide complete and integrated fisheries and aquatic science services. This includes use of advanced technologies (e.g., acoustic telemetry, active hydroacoustics, environmental DNA [eDNA] and other genetic monitoring; data processing, analysis and visualization) to solve some of the most complex scientific and regulatory challenges.
