Red Tail Play Area at Taylor Mountain Park
Inspired by nature, this play area is built into the hillside at the base of Taylor Mountain to engage children in explorative and imaginative fun.
Why does this project matter?
The play area combines traditional and nature play features providing play opportunities that appeal to children of all ages. An accessible trail connects the terraced play elements so everyone can participate.
What is ESA doing to help?
ESA landscape architects designed and developed construction documents for the project as part of an on-call contract with Sonoma County Regional Parks to incorporate an array of play features and equipment into this topographically challenging site.
Park visitors have been enjoying a discovery digging zone with sand play, basket swing, embankment slide with rock scramble, retaining walls, various rock and log climbers, and the picnic area.
