The $1.5 billion, 33-mile I-10 Corridor project represents the largest transportation project in San Bernardino County’s history and the first toll lane project managed by San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA).

Why does this project matter?

This project will provide the region with more efficient and reliable transportation infrastructure for the movement of both people and goods. With ESA’s environmental oversight, support, monitoring, compliance, and coordination, we can ensure that the environmental obligations and commitments are met during the design-build phase.

What is ESA doing to help?

ESA played an integral role in successfully delivering the environmental approval during the Project Approval and Environmental Document Phase. Working as a part of a larger consulting team, ESA collaborated with Caltrans and SBCTA to expedite the completion of the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS).

We helped facilitate FHWA major project requirements during this phase and successfully secured environmental documentation approval for federal and state funding. Our team provided environmental project management services, overseeing the preparation of the EIR/EIS and supporting technical studies. We also assisted with developing technical provisions and prepared regulatory permits and FHWA-Risk Assessment Analysis.

After completing the CEQA/NEPA documentation in 2017, ESA was selected as part of another consultant team to provide environmental management during the design-build phase. We are currently providing oversight, support, monitoring, compliance, and coordination to ensure the environmental obligations and commitments identified in the Environmental Commitments Record (ECR) are met.
