Ryan Hansen has joined Environmental Science Associates (ESA) as Client Development Director for the California region. With over 25 years of experience in the transportation, water resources, and environmental consulting industries, Ryan will work closely with practice leaders, regional directors, and business group directors to lead comprehensive, strategic business development for the transportation market, and lead transportation market growth across California.
Ryan started his career at the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) as an Environmental Planner/Water Quality Specialist, and has continued to be involved in the pursuit and support of major transportation projects, including serving as the Environmental Program Manager for the largest highway project in construction in California ($2.16 billion, Design-Build I-405 Improvement Project, 2016-2024). His clients include the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), Caltrans, Riverside County Transportation and Land Management Agency, Port of Long Beach (POLB), and several municipalities in California.
Ryan also has an extensive background in water resources, and in his most recent position, he served as Vice President of Water Resources Sciences at WSP where he led new pursuits and managed municipal government and commercial client water quality programs. He has lead storm water, drainage, and hydrology functions of large-scale projects, and has acquired professional certifications such as Qualified SWPPP Developer/Practitioner (QSD/QSP) and Certified Professional in Storm Water Quality (CPSWQ).
