A comprehensive noise and land use compatibility study for Naples Airport (APF), one of the busiest general aviation airports in the U.S., was conducted in accordance with 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 150.

Why does this project matter?

The comprehensive Part 150 Study for APF offered invaluable insight and data to guide future planning to mitigate noise at one of the busiest general aviation airports in the U.S. It provided a thorough understanding of the existing conditions and provided strategies to mitigate noise impacts and enhance land use compatibility in communities surrounding APF.

What is ESA doing to help?

ESA is completing a 14 CFR Part 150 Study at APF to evaluate noise impacts and improve land use compatibility planning in communities surrounding APF. This effort collected, analyzed, and evaluated more than 80+ suggested stakeholder/community measures including over 60 noise abatement and programmatic measures, such as an Enhanced Fly Quiet Program, and installation of a Noise and Operations Monitoring System. The Part 150 Study had an extensive outreach program, including four rounds of Public Workshops, more than a dozen small community meetings, Technical Advisory Committee and Noise Compatibility Committee meetings, Airport Authority and City Council workshops, and other community outreach. In conjunction with the airport, ESA has conducted more than 100 stakeholder outreach meetings since the start of the Part 150 Study. The Part 150 Study also includes extensive coordination with the Air Traffic Control at both Naples Airport and Southwest Florida International Airport, Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON), Miami Air Route Traffic Control Center, and the FAA’s Orlando office and the regional office in Atlanta.
