ESA is pleased to welcome Michael Chidley as Director of Operations in the Northwest Region. Chidley is an archaeologist who has worked in both the public and private sectors during his nearly 25-year career. He has spent the past 15 years overseeing large regional portfolios of work as part of several multi-disciplinary environmental teams at Jacobs and the Washington State Department of Transportation, among others.

In this new role for ESA, Chidley will be focused on ensuring the region’s collection of over 400 active projects are being delivered efficiently for and to the exacting standards of its clients, in addition to providing career development and coaching opportunities for project managers, championing a safety culture, and reviewing risk issues and contractual requirements for the region.

“We are thrilled to have someone with Michael’s background lend additional support to our project managers and directors, while strengthening connections to our accounting, finance, and contract and risk teams,” said Stacy Bumback, Northwest Regional Director. “With such tremendous growth and success in our region, we need to proactively adapt our business structure to meet our performance goals, and Michael is just the person to help us do that.”

Chidley holds a BA in Anthropology from the University of Illinois, and an MA in Anthropology from the University of Nebraska. Chidley will be based out of ESA’s Seattle office but will work regularly from the firm’s Portland office.
