We are thrilled to share that ESA’s Sacramento office was ranked as one of the “2020 Best Places to Work” in the medium-sized company category by the Sacramento Business Journal. ESA was one of fourteen firms awarded the honor in this category, and was selected based on an analysis of survey results that staff in the Sacramento office completed. Among the many reasons our employee-owners enjoy working at ESA, the survey revealed that employees feel very supported by the firm, their managers, and their colleagues, and believe that ESA is a place that provides professional growth and career development opportunities.

As one employee-owner noted, “I am in the 40th year of my professional career and ESA is by far the best firm I have ever worked at. Being employee-owned plays a large role in feeling good about the firm; we are in control of our own destiny. But more important, it is the integrity of our executive leadership team and senior managers, the level of caring for the employees as individuals, a commitment to creating a safe workplace for all people (regardless of race, ethnicity, gender), a passion for creating and maintaining a sustainable world, and an insistence on delivering high quality products and client satisfaction that makes ESA a great place to work and one that I tell my friends and colleagues about all the time.”

This is the first year that ESA’s Sacramento office has participated in the Best Places to Work survey, and we look forward to participating again in the future. It proved to be a very candid and useful tool for measuring employee engagement. Scores can range from 0-100 with 100 being the best possible score, and ESA scored 91 overall—a great outcome that we look to further increase in the coming years.

“I feel so proud to lead an office of environmental professionals who are not only passionate and committed to delivering quality work for our clients, but also care about one another and the success of our firm,” says Catherine McEfee, Vice President and Sacramento Office Leader. “It’s truly what makes ESA one of the best places of work, and I glad that we have an opportunity to celebrate it with this ranking.”
