Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading community planning and environmental consulting firm, welcomes Jon Ambrose to its Northwest team as Principal Associate in the firm’s Environmental Hydrology and Design team.

With close to 20 years of experience providing water-related project and program management for clients throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest in a broad range of markets, Jon brings his expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, and ecosystem restoration in support of infrastructure management, flood mitigation, and regional salmon recovery efforts.

“Jon’s skills and project experience complement and strengthen our established team and the work we are doing across the western United States,” explains Margaret Clancy, ESA’s Northwest Regional Director. “His deep understanding of rivers and floodplains is a huge asset for clients looking for innovative, sustainable, and multi-benefit solutions to address flood risk, species recovery, climate change, and other challenges. We are thrilled to add Jon to our team.”

Jon collaborates with an array of clients, including federal and state government, municipalities, tribes, conservation districts, fish enhancement groups, and irrigation districts, on issues related to hydrology, river channel behavior, climate change resiliency, and restoration of degraded aquatic habitats. He works with communities and watershed stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and implement strategies for long-term river management to improve ecosystem health and reduce risks to the human environment. Jon is excited to join ESA and work alongside his new colleagues on projects that benefit the communities where he lives and recreates.

Jon holds a Master of Science in Hydrology and Geosciences from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American Studies and Environmental Geology from Bucknell University.
