The Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is celebrating the 20-year anniversary of the transformative and multifaceted Crissy Field restoration.
Reopened to the public in May 2001 as a 100-acre tidal marshland and public waterfront park, Crissy Field is now a vibrant hub of activity and connection for the community. This was the first major project of its kind for the Conservancy, reclaiming the natural beauty and rich habitat of the land and water from its previous use as a military airfield. ESA has been honored and proud to be a part of the Crissy Field project, including the design of the successful coastal lagoon restoration and our work for the Presidio Parkway-Doyle Drive Replacement that raised and realigned the roadway, removing the transit barrier for increased connectivity to the waterfront from the Presidio.
