Barbra oversees ESA’s Southern California Biological Resources and Land Management team while providing client management, business development, and project and task management on large-scale projects.

1. What is your favorite ESA moment/memory so far?
Participating in our first Inclusion Dialogue with Forshay, as it was such a unique experience to have this type of education so relevant to the world that exists beyond ESA, in a work environment.

2. What does it mean to you to be part of an employee-owned company?
Being part of an employee-owned company means being able to have a meaningful impact in the direction our company takes, based on the needs and wants of our most important resource, our team of owners.

3. What has been your favorite job in your career and why?
Serving as the Director for the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation contract and being able to have this contract vehicle to offer to our team as really fun work, largely focused on the conservation of sensitive biological resources.

4. What keeps you coming to work here at ESA every day?
My fantastic colleagues, who are incredibly smart, bright, kind-hearted, and overall great human beings to interact with on a day-to-day level.

5. What is your hidden talent?
I can hold a head-stand for over a minute, and I am a certified yoga instructor.

6. What’s your favorite thing to do when you are out of office?
Camping with my family! And pretty much anything outdoors with my family, including birding, hiking, biking, and swimming/playing at the beach

7. What are three skills that you bring to the ESA team? In other words, what should colleagues know to reach out to you about?

  • Wildlife biology assessment.
  • Education/training in diversity/equity/inclusion dialogue facilitation.
  • Cooking!

8. Do you have any special talents?
Hip-hop dance choreography (I used to want to be a dancer for Janet Jackson).

9. Share a personal fact no one would ever guess about you?
I have two birthdays!

10. If you had one free hour each day, how would you use it?
Practicing yoga.
