Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading environmental consulting and planning firm, is pleased to welcome Beverly Choi as Community Planning Program Manager in its Northern California region. Recognized as one of the California Top 20 Under 40 Professionals by Engineering News Record in 2016, Choi most recently worked for AECOM where she held a variety of leadership roles—from Studio Leader to Senior Project Manager—and worked on a number of high-profile local and international, multi-disciplinary projects.
“Beverly’s unique combination of hands-on planning work combined with her operational experience will add a new dimension to our growing Community Planning practice in Northern California,” said Daniel Dameron, ESA’s Northern California Community Development Director. “From lending her master planning expertise to the 34th America’s Cup held in San Francisco to helping clients identify the highest and best use for project sites around the world, Beverly’s experience will better position ESA to take on the challenges that affect our urban environments.”
Choi is eager to collaborate with ESA colleagues across its core business lines and believes this synergy will be essential as she helps to not only grow the Community Planning team in Northern California and beyond, but also diversify its service offerings.
“I am pleased to join this highly regarded company that invests in developing its employees and demonstrates a legacy of excellence through their work,” said Choi. “Whether it’s working with clients to plan, design, review, or permit, the ESA team injects best industry practices in every project and every step of the process to create environments with lasting, positive impacts.”
With a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University, and 15 years of experience shaping communities and consulting, Choi is well-equipped to help ESA’s clients tackle their most complex project needs, including land use planning, policy analysis, site feasibility assessments, urban design, and public engagement. Choi is also a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional).
