What are some of the most memorable projects or achievements you’ve been a part of during your 35 years?
Throughout my 35 years at ESA, I have had the privilege of being part of many memorable achievements that showcase both my growth and the evolution of this incredible company. Kind of like watching your favorite TV show evolve from a modest pilot episode to a blockbuster series! I started my career at ESA in 1989 in an entry-level position, where you could find me watering the plants in our parking lot, organizing supplies in the production room, and checking in with the “cool crowd” in the block house (only us old-timers will truly appreciate that reference!). Back then, I did not envision a lifelong career here; I thought it was just another stop in my early journey.
My most memorable achievements include leading a remarkable team of administrative and publication professionals who truly elevate our products and services. Their unwavering commitment to excellence not only sets the standard for exceptional service but also brings our reports to life with stunning visual appeal. As Fleet Manager, I take great pride in effectively managing a diverse fleet of vehicles, vessels, trailers, and equipment, ensuring operational efficiency that has significantly contributed to our overall performance. When I stepped into this role in 2019, we were still relying on handwritten logs and manual data entry. Since then, the fleet team has successfully developed integrated systems and software that streamline processes and enhance efficiency. Additionally, my involvement with the sustainability team stands out as a pivotal achievement, where we have implemented eco-friendly initiatives that align with our company’s commitment to a greener future. My active role on the safety committee further underscores my dedication to advocating for the well-being of our employee owners, promoting a culture of safety that empowers everyone.
These experiences not only highlight my contributions but also reflect my passion for making a lasting impact. ESA has been a place where I have been able to grow, be challenged, and advance in my career. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of the ESA family. When I started, we had only two offices, with fewer than fifty employees. Today, I am proud to be part of an ESOP with approximately eight hundred employee owners! It’s been an amazing journey—one that I wouldn’t trade for anything!
What’s your favorite thing to do when you are out of the office?
My favorite thing to do outside of ESA is working on and cruising in my classic cars! I own a stunning aqua-colored 1964 Chevrolet Impala with a sparkling white top that catches the sun beautifully. I also cherish my white 1957 Chevy Bel Air, that holds a special place in my heart. Whenever I have the chance, I love tinkering with these cars and taking long drives to soak in the breathtaking scenery of the San Francisco Bay Area. There’s nothing quite like the exhilarating feeling of the open road in a classic car. As a proud San Francisco native, let me know if you’re in town—I’d be more than happy to give you a tour of all the must-see spots! I take great pride in my upbringing; to me, it’s the most beautiful city in the world, filled with charm and unforgettable memories.
What are three skills that you bring to the ESA team? In other words, what should colleagues know to reach out to you about?
- I’m a walking database of knowledge, ready to assist with any questions you may have. If I can’t provide the answer, I’ll surely know the right person to refer you to.
- While I may not be the technical expert like many on my team, I pride myself on being a true people person. I love connecting with others and building relationships that foster collaboration.
- I thrive on thinking outside the box! As a Northern California regional team member, I actively collaborate with colleagues across all offices, ensuring that we share ideas and insights to drive our collective success.
