Rich is a Senior Aquatic Biologist with more than 30 years of experience working in freshwater systems throughout the Pacific Northwest. He is a regional expert in aquatic plant identification, and his work focuses on aquatic invasive species including high priority aquatic plants and freshwater mollusks. He has extensive field experience in early detection surveys, hydroacoustic and point‑intercept mapping, and development of monitoring strategies that help agencies evaluate risk and respond to emerging AIS issues. He has led lake and reservoir surveys that integrate vegetation assessments, veliger sampling, adult mussel inspections, and geospatial analysis to support long‑term invasive species management.
Rich also has a strong background in applied limnology and water quality monitoring and has designed and implemented programs that track ecological conditions and support regulatory compliance. His combined experience provides clients with clear, science‑based insight into system conditions and emerging management needs.
