James Clark is a Senior Archaeologist with over two decades of experience working in California, as well as the U.S. Northeast and Southeast. James provides technical oversight, expertise, and quality assurance for cultural resources support services, including survey, testing, data recovery, and monitoring projects. He has conducted numerous cultural resource studies for local, state, and federal agencies, as well as private utility companies and corporate entities pursuant to Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and the California Environmental Quality Act. James is experienced in Native American coordination and compliance with California Assembly Bill 52. As a former archaeological Laboratory Manager and museum professional, he is also experienced in archaeological curation and collections rehabilitation (36 CFR 79), NAGPRA Inventory, education program development and interpretation and is proficient in the Gallery Systems’ The Museum System (TMS) collections management software application.
James meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology (i.e., 36 Code of Federal Regulations Part 61) and is a Registered Professional Archaeologist. Further, he also meets the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Professionally Qualified Staff standards at the level of Principal Investigator and is also named on permits to perform archaeological studies for a number of federal, state, and local agencies as well as Native American tribes.
