As Senior Vice President and ESA’s Southeast Regional Director, Doug guides the region’s operations and strategic business development. Previously overseeing the region’s largest practice group, and a current member of ESA’s JEDI committee since 2022, Doug is a well-respected leader and advocate for ESA’s employee-owned culture, empowering over 65 employee-owners positioned throughout seven offices in Florida and the Gulf Region.

With more than 24 years of experience in natural resources management, as well as comprehensive knowledge of Florida’s ecology, Doug is a recognized industry expert. He has served as environmental manager on numerous projects for the Florida Department of Transportation, habitat conservation and water agencies, and local municipalities throughout the Southeast. He is also highly versed in wetland assessments; federal, state, and local permitting; protected species studies; GIS mapping and analyses; NEPA; habitat evaluation; and environmental impact mitigation.

As Regional Director, Doug provides essential input to the region’s strategic oversight, execution of key business plans, and recruitment of essential personnel. He also leads the region’s growth and development pursuits to deepen ESA’s scientific expertise and capabilities, and he effectively managed key client and project transitions throughout ESA’s acquisition of Janicki Environmental.

He holds a Master of Science in biology from the University of Central Florida and a Bachelor of Science in zoology from Washington State University and is certified as a Senior Professional Wetland Scientist, Authorized Gopher Tortoise Agent, and Qualified Stormwater Management Inspector.
