Dr. David Tomasko is an environmental consultant with more than 40 years of experience in water quality assessments and the development of science-based resource management plans. His projects have resulted in the development of water quality and natural resource restoration projects in a variety of locations, and his documentation of the source(s) of ecological problems has led to multi-million dollar and successful restoration outcomes in numerous lakes and estuaries.
David has been involved with the development of water quality management plans for waterbodies in Florida and other locations along the Gulf coast, Southern California, the Caribbean Basin, and the Middle East. He has more than 60 articles or book chapters published in internationally distributed and peer-reviewed scientific journals or scientific publications and was the lead author on the first paper to find a link between the duration of red tide events in the coastal waters of Southwest Florida and nutrient loads from the Caloosahatchee River.
Prior to his recent return to ESA, David served as Executive Director of the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program (SBEP)—an Independent District of the State of Florida tasked with managing the water quality and natural resources of Sarasota Bay, one of 28 estuaries in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) National Estuary Program.
