1. What is your favorite ESA moment so far?
There are so many of them! My favorite memories involve the people―getting to know each other, having some laughs, appreciating each other’s wit and creativity and our penchant for celebrating…Or it involves learning about the projects and the work that we do―being able to have that knowledge to share with others when I talk about my work and the impacts we’re making is extremely satisfying and makes me proud to work at ESA.
2. What does it mean to you to be part of an employee-owned company?
I like saying we are 100% employee-owned when I give my elevator speech of what I do. There is a sense of pride in knowing that this is our company. However, with the rewards of ownership also come responsibilities and each of our actions has an impact on the greater whole. To be a responsible employee owner, I need to understand the business fundamentals on what it takes to run a healthy and profitable company and ensure that I am doing everything in my power to do so. We are in this together as employee owners, rowing in the same direction for the same goals―to create positive changes in our communities and environments and to run a healthy and profitable business.
3. What keeps you coming to work here at ESA every day?
I am surrounded by colleagues who have become like family. The collegial and entrepreneurial spirit at ESA has kept work interesting for me over the past 16 years at ESA.
4. What is your hidden talent?
I can parallel park like nobody’s business. City living and operating heavy machinery growing up gave me some serious maneuvering-into-tiny-spaces skills!
5. What’s your favorite thing to do when you are out of the office?
Traveling and enjoying time with my children―Nina is 9 and my son Anil is 2.
6. What is the greatest bit of advice a parent or mentor has given you?
Listen to your gut – trust your intuition.
7. If you had one free hour each day, how would you use it?
Planning vacations!
