In a year where outdoor recreation has been the key to good health, the East Bay Regional Park District has announced that the long-awaited Bay Point Regional Shoreline will open this month.
Since July 2016, ESA’s restoration team has been providing design, permitting, and construction bid services to support this 30-acre project, which encompasses a variety of habitat: tidal marsh and channel, tidal panne, and coastal grassland and scrub areas.
When it opens to the public on November 20, this project will improve trail surfacing on the existing Harrier Trail to meet accessibility standards and raise the trail to increase sea-level rise resiliency. Other enhancements include new lookout areas, interpretive signs, and fencing and transitional habitat buffers to protect sensitive wildlife resources from human disturbance.
