Sarah Spano is the director of the Southern California Water group and has served as a trustee of ESA’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) since 2022. With over 13 years of experience leading complex projects and working with public water utilities, Sarah oversees ESA’s delivery of complex projects including water supply, stormwater, recycled water, and wastewater infrastructure plans.

She manages a group of water planners who conduct environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and herself has managed environmental documentation for water projects throughout Southern California. She is driven by the acumen and passion of the technical teams that deliver successfully for clients across ESA’s service lines.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology/Archaeology from New York University, Magna Cum Laude, and is a graduate of the Water Education Foundation (WEF) Water Leaders Program.
