Martin has served on the ESA Board of Directors as an outside director for 14 years, the last two as chair. In his professional work, he has spent 35 years in the field of employee ownership. Trained originally as an attorney, and with an MBA degree, Martin has served as an attorney, government policy analyst, human resources executive, and consultant to companies that want to create successful programs of employee ownership. He has spent the last 20 years of his career with the Beyster Institute at the University of California San Diego, where he served as executive director from 2015 through 2020.
