Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading West Coast-based environmental consulting firm, is pleased to announce that Mark Johnson, PLA has been named Northwest Director of Community Development in our Seattle office. Mark manages our northwest team of planners and technical specialists with a thorough understanding of environmental conditions, design processes, and agency requirements to help clients plan, design, permit, and implement their planning and development projects.

He understands the technical, regulatory and economic realities of the planning process and works with clients to ensure that projects get built in ways that meet social needs, protect critical resources and are sustainable.”
Mark brings more than 25 years of experience in planning, design, Washington State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) and NEPA document preparation, and federal, state, and local environmental regulatory compliance throughout the Pacific Northwest. As a consultant and a former land use official at the City of Seattle, he is well-versed in all aspects of the planning spectrum, including long-range planning (comprehensive, shoreline, critical areas, and sub-area plans and policy), current planning, and regulatory review. Mark is a professional landscape architect licensed in Washington.
