ESA Transportation Director, Linda Amato, AICP, was recently elected to the American Planning Association’s Board of Directors. The American Planning Association (APA) is a not-for-profit educational organization comprised of 45,000 members across the U.S. with a mission of creating great communities for all. The Board of Directors consists of 17 members governing and setting strategic goals for the organization. Linda was elected by fellow APA members and will serve a four-year term starting January 1, 2020.
Linda is a certified planner with over 30 years of experience and holds a MURP in community planning and design from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from SUNY at Stony Brook. Since joining APA she has held several leadership roles, including advisor to the Board of Directors, chair of the LGBTQ and Planning Division, and editor of the Women and Planning Division newsletter. Linda currently serves on the Divisions Council Executive Committee and is the Council’s liaison to the AICP Commission. Linda’s other volunteer activities have also included participation seats on the city of Seattle’s, Landmarks Preservation Board, Planning Commission, and Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee.
