Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading environmental science and planning firm with offices on the West and Gulf Coasts, adds Spencer Mains as director of information technology. Based in San Francisco, Mains brings more than two decades of experience directing information technology and knowledge management for major consulting, branding, and merchandise firms, including 16 years with Landor, a global branding firm.
“Spencer is laser-focused on collaboration and the user experience, and with ESA’s 500-plus employee-owners spread out among our 19 offices in four states and clients across the country, this is just what the firm needs as we strengthen and grow” says Leslie Moulton-Post, ESA’s President and CEO. “We are excited to be working with Spencer to better integrate our internal systems, provide top-notch customer support to our internal and external teams, and help us bring new technologies for our industry to market. It’s clear he is going to help us unlock creativity and innovation at ESA.”
Mains holds a B.S. in Film/Television Production and Design from San Diego State University. Among the many achievements throughout his career, Mains proven success transitioning several companies from localized computing to 100% cloud-based infrastructure and building an award-winning intranet and website, recognized by Nielsen Norman Media Group and the Web Marketing Association respectively, will prove important as these are priority areas for ESA, especially with its new website scheduled to launch mid-year in coordination with the firm’s 50th anniversary. In addition, Mains drove the implementation of Gap Inc.’s technology on-boarding program for North America during his tenure with the Bay Area based retailer; this experience will help ESA advance its program for new hires in 2019.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the corporate management team at ESA. In my short time here, it’s obvious that the company values creative and innovative entrepreneurs who are focused on driving the firm forward,” said Mains. “I look forward to helping ESA advance our current technology offerings to create an efficient and effective digital workplace that meets the needs of the 21st-century employee-owner.”
