Environmental Science Associates (ESA), a leading environmental consulting firm with six offices in Southern California, is proud to announce that Tung-Chen (Tony) Chung, PhD, has joined the Community Development team as a Principal Associate.
Having completed thousands of noise and air quality studies, and as a certified member of the Institute of Noise Control Engineering since 1991, Dr. Chung is recognized as one of the premier noise experts in the nation. He has also been involved in more than 100 greenhouse gas and climate change impact analyses.
Expanding ESA’s acoustic service offerings, Chung’s resume includes specialty sound and vibration isolation design services for healthcare, residential, commercial, education, and entertainment projects, as well as architectural acoustics, where he consults with design teams to select the most suitable interior configuration, materials, and absorption required for ideal room performance.
“As ESA’s most senior noise expert in Southern California, Dr. Chung provides a depth of expertise to conduct complex community and transportation acoustical analyses,” said Heidi Rous, ESA’s Southern California Air and Noise Director. “He brings a vast amount of experience and geographic reach to our noise and vibration practice, which will help us to continue our work addressing potential impacts to the quality of life for our communities.”
Dr. Chung holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California at Los Angeles, a Master of Science from University of Mississippi, and a Bachelor of Science from National Tsing-Hua University in Taiwan, all focused in mechanical engineering. Even before completing his doctorate, he was introduced to the field of consulting and there was no turning back.
“I enjoy working with clients, especially when I can develop a customized approach that not only meets current regulatory expectations, but also anticipates the future,” Dr. Chung explains. “I want to see them reach their greatest benefit.”
