Sound Transit On-Call Environmental Services

ESA Image

Over 27.6 million riders board Sound Transit buses and trains throughout Snohomish, King and Pierce counties. As a preferred consultant since 2005, ESA has provided on-call environmental and permitting services for more than 60 Sound Transit projects. Leading an environmental consulting team of more than 15 subconsultants, ESA responds as-needed to agency requests for environmental permit assistance and regulatory compliance.

ESA has performed wetland and stream assessments, prepared conceptual and final mitigation plans, monitored mitigation sites, designed culvert replacements, prepared NEPA and SEPA documents, and assisted with Endangered Species Act Section 7 consultations for Sound Transit. Our work has supported Link light rail projects from SeaTac to Northgate, Sounder Commuter Rail projects from Lakewood through Tacoma and Seattle and north to Everett, and several Regional Express Bus projects. Our team helped Sound Transit to identify project permitting needs, conduct field studies and prepare environmental documentation to meet WSDOT, Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and other regulatory agency requirements.

For more than 6 years, ESA has met Sound Transit’s operational and long-term planning needs through strategic and practical approaches to environmental planning and compliance.
